Description:

Hydration status is an important factor for supporting the process and outcome of pregnancy. Low Hydration status during pregnancy could be occurred by several factors, such as excessive nausea and vomiting, inadequate fluid and electrolyte intake. The aim of this study was to investigate the contribution of nausea and vomiting, fluids and electrolyte intake adequacy on the hydration status among Pregnant women. This was descriptive study with quantitative and cross sectional design among 50 respondents in Puskesmas Kecamatan Kebon Jeruk Jakarta Barat. Hydration status was measured by urine specific gravity method. Nausea and vomiting during pregnancy was scored using the PUQE (Pregnancy Unique Quantification of Emesis and Nause) questionnaire. Fluid, sodium and potassium intake were measured by 2x24 hour recall. Bivariate analysis using the Chi Square test. In this research, The results of this research is there is no relations between nausea and vomiting (p=0.684), fluids adequacy levels (p=0.669), sodium adequacy levels (p=1.000), and potassium adequacy levels (p=1.000) with hydration status on pregnancy. In conclusion, there were no relationship of nausea and vomiting, fluids, sodium and potassium adequacy levels and hydration status among pregnant women.
